SSI Computer Services Ltd has revealed that it has selected Hornbill Systems, an IT support and service management solutions company, to provide IT Helpdesk software.

SSI is to use Hornbill's Supportworks for managed services and as the basis for its IT Service Desk for internal staff and field engineers. Supportworks was reportedly chosen by SSI for its flexible, easy to use and scaleable helpdesk platform and SSI will re-sell it with support from Hornbill. Supportworks enables analysts to handle each call appropriately and SSI's current customer base of 150 companies is being migrated to the new system, with unique assets and work flows set up for each customer to guide call procedures.

According to Hornbill, Supportworks works with data from other systems, such as contact details and information from Asset Management systems, as part of its Open Integration policy. Hornbill said that the partnership with SSI is based on its need for a reseller with LANDesk capability and SSI's requirement for a service management solution to offer more functionality for customers.
